The NHL season began on Wednesday night with four games. One of those games included the Washington Capitals and the St. Louis Blues. St. Louis raised the banner that night for the first time in franchise history.
The Blues did not win that game as the Capitals spoiled the party by winning the game 3-2 in overtime. St. Louis did jump out to a 2-0 lead early.
Speaking of the St. Louis Blues, one of the story lines heading into the 2019-2020 is will they repeat as Stanley Cup Champions?
There are some other potential headlines to keep an eye during this season. One of them is, is the Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin era coming to a close in Pittsburgh or will they keep on competing for Stanley Cup Titles?
Another question is, will the Washington Capitals find a way to win it all for the second time in three years? They have the talent to go back to the finals again this season.
Another question is, do the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Nashville Predators, the Winnipeg Jets, the Vegas Golden Knights, and the San Jose Sharks who all made it to the playoffs last season get back their and win the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history?
Will the Tampa Bay Lightning win the Stanley Cup this season after winning the Presidents’ Trophy last season and also getting embarrassed in the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the Columbus Blue Jackets?
Will the Boston Bruins get back to the Stanley Cup Finals after falling one-game short of winning it all last season?
There are probably some other headlines that I could go over, but that would take forever.
The 2019-2020 NHL season is going to be a very interesting season.
